Not many knew that Hostmonster and Bluehost are working under the same roof at Orem, Utah.
HostMonster location on Google Map:

BlueHost location on Google Map

Same address! Surprise?
Well, the fact is these two shared web hosting and domain registration companies have combined their hosting platforms since September 2007. The merger lead BlueHost/HosMonster Inc. surpass the 525,000 active domain mark in year 2007.
If you search and read detail enough, you’ll notice that it’s not just the registration address of BlueHost and HostMonster are located in the same location; the physical servers and dedicated personnel are as well in place for both companies – having the management team and most of the support staff work on both platforms. You won’t be surprise these two hosting companies have added certain new features including new spam protection, coupons for free PPC advertising credits, powerful shopping carts and merchant account services since the merger.
I guess this explains why the hosting plan of Bluehost and Hostmonster is kinda similar, huh?

HostMonster allows you to have unlimited FTP accounts/connections to the server. This means you can have virtually no restriction at all working on FTP file transfers – such like sharing musics and videos with friends via your host server on Hostmonster. Cool, isn’t?
Err, okay, so you’re a beginner and not sure what’s FTP. Well, FTP (aka File Transfer Protocol, or file transfer program) is the program and protocol which allows files to be transferred across the Internet. The FTP is also incorporated into WWW browsers such as Internet Explorer and FireFox. In layman term, FTP is a method to upload and download files to your web server (in our case, Hostmonster web server).
How to add a FTP account and transfer file via FTP in HostMonster
You will need a FTP account on your HostMonster account and a third party FTP program to access your files. As default, your username/password is the passes for FTP access. For example in my case, I can login to my FTP account using the username and password that I created when I first signed up with HostMonster.
You can also add a new FTP account (as Hostmonster offer unlimited FTP account) for your friends or families for the access.
FTP account is easy to be created and shown below is the ‘control page’ for creating FTP account.

Also, Hostmonster allow you to create an anonymonus FTP account where no password is requried for the login. This may be useful if you have files that you wish to be publicly available for download. However, you should be aware that allowing anonymous users to access any part of your system may be considered a security hole.
All the fuctions related to FTP can be found at your cPanel froun page, under category ‘File’.

Yes, I know – all you want is to have your website host on Hostmonster and you did nothing fishy nor you’re using a stolen credit card. But out of nowhere, the Hostmonster Verification Department jumped out and deactivate your account with the reason of “suspicious activity on this account”.
“WTF?!” I had the same reaction as you’re having now when I first know this and it almost made me yell to the laptop screen like the Incredible Hulk.

But the situation took a positive turn as soon as I contacted Hostmonster customer supports. Good news is that the customer support is very helpful and it’s not that hard to get your account back in action. In fact my account was reactivated back very soon and I’m happy with their response time.
In case you’re not sure what to do, check out my previous related posts where I…
Good news about this is that you can fix this ULTRA FAST – just an identity check with Hostmonster Verification Department and you’re done. Also, think about this thoroughly, this is actually a good sign for a web hosting company. To me, it shows that Hostmonster’s taking their business seriously and they are being very responsive towards scams and spams.
Can’t go wrong sticking with the company that care about their business a lor, right? To learn more, visit Hostmonster online.
