Everything’s working alright with my website operation but I’m seeing MySQL failed in my server status – See mysql (5.0.75-community-log) failed at figure below. Wrote an e-mail to the supports but there’s no response back yet. I’ll contact the online chat staffs if this goes on. Besides the database errors, I’m not seeing any major issues with Hostmonster server, here’s the print screen of my server status with HM.

It’s been nearly one year since I first signed up with Hostmonster. I’m not very happy with their customer supports due to the scam alert thing and several incidents where the customer supports are not telling the truth but besides that, everything has been good with the hosting company. I remained positive with the web host. In case you are looking for a cheap yet reliable hosting and are okay with moderate customer supports (well, nothing’s perfect, right?) then you should check out Hostmonster.

Well it’s been quite some while I have reveal about Hostmonster server status. Truth is that I’m busy working on some other hosting review websites; but I’m not keeping my eyes close. Anyway, back to our question…
How’s Hostmonster server doing?
I have no problem with Hostmonster hosting service so far. The server I’m on is stable, responsive, and I rarely have to contact the support for helps. However what worries me is that the hard drive usage on my server had been increasing sharply. If you look closely to the diagram, you’ll see the usage of disk2 is over 90% – which is extremely high.

While the heavy usage has not affected any operation of my websites, the data signals that there might be an (serious) overselling issue with the company. Let’s hope this trend won’t be lasting long and hopefully folks at Hostmonster are dealing with the problem by now. I’ll keep you guys posted on the latest server status.

Some of you guys might be experienced a site down during these few days as Hostmonster is merging some of their servers (As reported by HM customer: Host300) to a new box.
You would be seeing this error message if your website is affected:
"The website you are visiting is currently offline due to system maintinance.
In order to give the best filesystem performance possible, and to ensure the integrity of data, a diagnostic process is being performed, and any inconsistencies will be repaired. This process may take approximately 30 to 60 minutes."
Fortunately, this site is not affected but in case you’re worry about yours, you can always check your server status here: http://serverstatus.hostmonster.com
A few minutes back I was talking with the technical guy at HM and he told me that a few thousands of sites were down due to this planned upgrades and he assure me that the websites will be back in roughly 30 minutes. Good thing about it is that all websites affected will be directed to a splash page indicating the problem.

Here’s how Hostmonster’s server status looks like today:

The results?
Everything looks good and I remain positive on Hostmonster server performance – after all, I’m hosting websites on Hostmonster itself and I found no problem in maintaining and accessing my websites, why shouldn’t I like Hostmonster?
The disk storage issue with Hostmonster servers
There were some minor worries about Hostmonster’s disk storage being overloaded during June, but things had improved much in September.
Referring to the figure besides, you’ll see all the hardware are in healthy level.
Well that’s all for the moment, I’ll be updating you on the server’s situation in future.

A quick check on HostMonster server status today:

Server load =2.4/8.0 cpus, all servers (including mail and database servers) are up, only 20% memory is used… everything seems fine.
Except I’m seeing one single ‘yellow light’ at the disk storage – Disk /dev/sdd1 (/home1). From the numbers it shows that 87% of the disk space is used in this section. Nothing much to worry, but it’s showing that the disk space is loaded up fast.

Could this be as a result of HostMonster getting more and more popular? Will HostMonster upgrades it’s disk capacity soon? Is this just a sudden ‘usage-spike’ that occurs temporarily? Hmmm… Well, I don’t have any answer for all these; but I am sure I will be observing the situation closely. Let’s see how things go for the next few days.
Anyway, one thing for sure is that all my web maintenance operations work just fine at HostMonster. Everything’s as smooth as usual and I have no worries on hosting with HostMonster at all.
After all, they have been giving me such a good experience so far – why should I be bothered about such tiny thing (the 87% disk usage)?
